RNS Mobile Mammography RNS Regional Cancer Center AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center As a result of a recent RNS pledge, the RNS Mobile Mammography Van that has been on the road since 1995 has retired and was replaced in April 2007 with a brand new van. The new RNS Mobile Mammography Van with the latest in technology is only one of four in the country and offers convenient and affordable state-of-the-art digital screenings to women in Atlantic, Cape May and southern Ocean County. Digital mammography screenings are superior to film based for women over 50 and for women with dense breast tissue. Digital pictures are clearer and can be reviewed promptly as they are sent to work stations for evaluation by a radiologist. The new and improved RNS Mobile Mammography Van will enable technicians to operate more efficiently, decreasing the turn around time so more patients can be seen during a day. The American Cancer Society recommends that a woman have one baseline mammogram between the ages of 35 and 40 and a mammogram every year after age 40. By taking advantage of the RNS Mobile Mammography Van, women over age 35 can receive a convenient screening close to their home or workplace.
