Cardiac Care Unit at Shore Memorial Hospital Heart Institute at AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center
As a result, the Critical Care Unit increased its capacity by 15 beds for a total of 49, plus a 16-bed Intensive Care Unit and a 9-bed Surgical Telemetry Unit. All nursing care and the patient's vital signs are documented on a computer in each patient's room, which allows nurses to stay with the patients longer and constantly monitor their care. Physicians access the computers to check patient conditions and monitor test results which also assists them in coordinating with other physicians and nurses. The use of technology makes it easier for the nurses and doctors to care for the patients all the while meeting the emotional, spiritual and psychosocial needs of the patients and their families. Technology is constantly changing, creating an ongoing need for state-of-the art equipment and RNS has played a vital role in helping Shore Memorial Hospital provide quality cardiac care in the community.
